Hello,
It might be nearly four years old but no need creating a new thread when you know you've asked about the same family before. Good old Rootschat, keeping everything
I stumbled across a unseen site which has shown up some Penketh's who are certainly related to me but I don't have any record of them. So I've been going through my data and I find its shockingly bare!
As you can see from above, Mo very kindly brought up my Penketh's from the 1861 census.
Could someone be ever so kind and find them using that from above for the '41, 51 and '71 census'
I have Ellen, Catherine and Peter on the 1881 census
Thankyou
Merry Christmas
Jonathan

Hi,
The address of High Street, Eccleston is interesting as the same address would now be High Street, Prescot.
That thought lead me to this a John Penketh married a Catherine Kelly 17 Nov 1833 at Prescot St Mary - High Street Prescot is about 100 yards from St Mary's Church.
John is described as Labourer, widower of Eccleston and Catherine spinster of Eccleston - both sign X - witnesses Thomas Sallon and Mary Kelly again both sign X
Regards
John

Hello,
Thats great stuff, John and Annie
Trying to peice together my Penketh's and i'm at that annoying point, were you have isolated people who you know are related to you. You just can't link them back. Take JOHN PENKETH who is buried in the same grave plot as Ellen Penketh and her family (Married name Jackson) - This JOHN PENKETH died in 1907 aged 33 in Prescot district. None of the John Penketh matches on 1881 census, age wise are any help. With Thomas' and James' for fathers, but I ain't got no such gentlemen in the Penketh family tree.
So indeed Annie, every little snippet helps. That poor James met an unforunate end. Penketh is not a bad name to search in the right area. I reckons if I collect enough 'snippets' of St Helens Penketh's - I'll have enough to make some sense of it all.
Thanks again
John, You seem to have solved and filled a little question mark that has hung over the Penketh tree...
Now Catherine has a maiden name and they both have a date and place for their marriage. Plus added bonus of witnesses. Also explains the age gap between them, he already having been married.
Merry Christmas to you both
Jonathan
