Hi Chalfontcrew
Have a look at http://www.dumgal.gov.uk/historicalindexes/census.aspx This will give you the 1851 census information for the family. For search purposes, this site is quite precise. I've had a look and found the family (with a few children more than you show!). In the search field type 'Young' for surname. In the address field type 'High Portencallie(887)'. In the household no. type '9/5'.
You will find John and Catherine with six children as at 1851.
Regards. Monica

Hi Caz
Have you tried searching for them on the 1861 and 1871 census available to view on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk. I had a quick look on the free search facility for Hamilton (unusual name!) Young in 1861 and got one entry only for a 16(?) year old Hamilton Young in Leswalt. I tried for other names of children (Daniel/Martha/Margaret) and nothing in Leswalt but entries showing elsewhere in Wigtownshire. It's a pay-to-view site.
Good luck. Monica

Hi Bonnie
Thank you for the look up, I think this might be them I have found a baptism on the igi for Mary Cherrie Young but the mother is listed as Catherine Davis which is why I missed her before the other children's mother was listed as Catherine Dailly or Daily or Daly.
Could you please let me have the census refs and the full details of the entries.
Many thanks Caz
