I have enjoyed this thread so much, a wonderful example of what can be accomplished when people really care about something and work towards the same end.
Congratulations to all of you who worked on this !!!

A triumph of Rootschatters, well done everyone, its been a great story. I wonder how many of us will manage to visit Castle Combe and see the original. I hope whoever threw the sampler out gets their conscience pricked so hard that they have to own up as to why they did the dastardly deed, but nevertheless provided a lot of fun for the searchers and a wonderful story for the rest of us to read.
I for one will keep my fingers crossed that a few last loose ends will be tied up after the next copy of the New Zealand Genealogist is published.

I know it's been said before, but no harm in saying it again , this has been a lovely story. Especially good for me to follow as it combines my two greatest interests, samplers and family history .
Suey - go for it , if I see any I am certainly going to buy them...trouble is they don't come up that often and when they do ...big bucks nowadays .
I did a family tree sampler for the millenium...do you think our grt grandchildren will be researching it in 150 years time , cooool!!!
Anyway, thanks again everyone for such a lovely interesting thread .

I have loved this thread so much, thank you for everyone who got involved.
Julie- What a great idea perhaps we should do our own. I saw one today at the Colne Valley Weavers museum from a lass of 8 to record a death of a family member, a bit sad but I have a great event to start mine.......

Exciting end to a lovely story Sure Hannah had no idea what a stir she'd cause by stitching that sampler. Cheers Jan
