Hi Jan,

Er, that wouldn't be Steve T would it ?  cos he hasn't replied to my message - sent last week  Grin

Also messaged an Alfred who had a Hannah but no date or place of birth (wild shot).

Helen

Lol - synchronised postings !

another thought - as she was a school teacher - is it possible she gave it to a favourite pupil if she had no children of her own?  Not very likely I know but just another knot in the family tree!

Had another look for Samuel and Mary in the hope of finding any other children - no luck. Did a bit of Googling only to find that the 1841 enumerators books for several parishes around Chippenham including Castle Combe did not survive Cry

Hi all

RESULTS

Have heard from Alfred - it's his wife's side so he's going to look into it. Smiley

Have also heard from Steve - he is related via Hannah's sister Mary.   He also has some distant relatives 'down under' so we may have a lead there. Grin

Erato - Steve has Banks ancestors and should be getting in touch with you....... Wink

Hannahs sister , Eliza Ann married John Silas Banks Dowding in1864 . It looks like oldest dau Agnes's family stayed in England, around Wiltshire, not been able to trace any of Agnes siblings yet. Can anyone find them in the 1891 census, Florence ,Edith , Blanche ,Samuel,Francis ,Susannah and Percy Dowding born in North Wraxell, Steve

Miles away - well, about 50 at least.

Brightling is about 10 miles inland from Bexhill & Hastings in East Sussex. Bit north-west of Battle.
Heathfield, Burwash, Hurst Green and Robertsbridge are the nearest larger villages/towns.
