Hi Eberg,
'Nort de Honden' sounds a bit suspect
It sounds a bit like North London, other than that I'm stumped
Just a thought,Mick

I would also guess North Something.
Not quite clear from your text if Catherine was also born in the USA or in the U.K. If UK, then Lancashire would be my first place to search.
A Lancashire Gazette, from GENUKI: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/Gazetteer/NO.htm
gives these possibilities, if the NOR is right:
NORBRECK, 1/2 mile N.W. of Bispham Norbrick, 2 miles N.N.W. of Cockerham church NORCROSS, 11/2 mile N.E. of Bispham Norris Green, 1/2 mile N.W. of West Derby chapel Norris Hill, Heaton Norris, 6 miles S.S.E. of Manchester North End, a hamlet on the island of Walney North End, 2 miles S.S.E. of Formby North End Haws, the northern extremity of the island of Walney North Hall, 1 mile N.N.E. of Standish NORTH MEOLS, 8 miles N.W. of Ormskirk, a parish in the deanry of Warrington, is situated on the sea coast, near the mouth of the Ribble, and has of late years been much frequented as a bathing place. The church is a rectory; patron the Rev. J. Baldwin North Meols Hall, North Meols North Moor, near Oldham Northern Ford, a Ford over the Mersey, 1/2 mile W. of Didsbury Northscale, a small village in the island of Walney
Anybody know if any of these is near St. Helens ??
