Hi
Marriage: James Marshall to Maggie Dunbar 1898 at Borgue Kirkcudbright
Birth: Mary Marshall 1900 at Borgue Kirkcudbright
http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
You can get the certificates here for a small fee. You also will be able to search for OPR records and death certificates and census returns 1861 - 1901 (1841 & 1851) not available at SP Quite yet! Hopefully soon..

Hi romanie
So can Ankerdine
There's masses of info on Billy Marshall - both true and fictional. I think that most of us with Kirkcudbrightshire roots might have a bit of Billy marshall in our veins

I think it would be wonderful if all the descendants of Billy Marshall got together and had a big party

It would be a really lovely place to hold a party!
I have several Stewart Marshalls on my tree but I haven't found out their descendants yet.
I also have several William Marshalls but really not sure of their true parentage either.
After all this time I think there were some "funny goings-on" in those Tinker Camps!
More work to be done, I think.
