photos from scanned images
« on: Wednesday 08 February 06 11:09 GMT (UK) »

Is it possible to get "photo" quality prints from scanned images received as e-mail attachments?

If it is possible, presumably the file size will determine the quality?

Can it be done by highstreet outlets?

thanks in advance - Tony

I think you already have some idea of the answer by the way your question is worded. However yes it is possible as long as the file size is big enough, and that can be quite large - 20+megabite for an A4.
Secondly any high street outlet worth its salt should be able to do the job - if not I would suggest that you look elsewhere. I live in Perth, Aus' and find that most outlets can handle my needs at a cost and to the point that I see my expensive printer as being a waste of money - my next printer will be something capable of giving good printed text and no more.

Thank you Denn,
Yes, I did have a rough idea as you say, I just wanted some confirmation.

Dilemma now is the file sizes for the images I received are 1Mb max. but then I don't need A4 size pics only 6"x4".

Only one way to find out I suppose!

Yes is the short answer.
I often get emailled scanned images printed in the local photo retailer, I simply put it on a disk and take it in, they treat it as a digital photo, so far I have only had good results.

For a 6x4 the ! mb should have no problems, What you get will probably depend on the quality of the pic' itself.

I'm not sure if this applies to you but I save my images to a memory card (one from my digital camera). In my area there are many machines where you can insert the memory card and select the 6*4 prints you want and "hey presto"
