Canadian Soldier
« on: Thursday 09 February 06 22:42 GMT (UK) »

Hi there,
How would I go about tracing a JOHN EDWARD WOOD, born in 1885 ish Canada and died in Carlisle in 1918 after been wounded in northern France in WWI. When he died he left a 20 year old widow and a son.

I am doing this research for a family friend and I know they have his army number and some very basic details but not (critically!) where he was from.

Any tips hints suggestions all greatfully received.

Anna

Hi Anna

You can search for members for the CEF in WW1 online:

http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/020106_e.html

Most of the attestation papers are online and do usually give date and place of birth
