I too think it's farmer with the loopy part of the a partly obliterated by the tick through it.
Either that or there are a lot of furriers and furrier workers living on furri's!

Hi Marg
This thread was started by me, in an attempt to help a BBC Radio Glocuestershire listener with her family tree at their last Family History Day. I don't know whether the listener joined Rootschat later - perhaps they will pop up and tell us!
If we can help you in any way, it would be a good idea to start a new thread on the Cambridgeshire board.
Incidentally, I will be attending the next BBC Radio Gloucestershire FH Day on October 14th. Anyone who would like to help - give me a shout!
kind regards, Arranroots

Chiming in nearly 2 years later to say I have this family in my extended tree. I have more information if the original poster is still around and would like to share!
(I know, optimism rules!)
