Newell

Looking for information about Annie Newell and any Dann relatives who emigratedto Canada in the early 1900s. It is most likely that most of the group visited Toronto and then headed to settle in the western provinces, most likely Alberta. It is likely that the Dann members of the group were from Greystones.

Thank you for your reply. The problem is that we do not have much additional information. I know for certain that Thomas McKeague from Enniskillen emigrated to Canada aroun 1910 along with 10 or more cousins We are certain that he and Anne Newell eventually homesteaded near Glasgow, Montana. We also know that Anne soon left Montana and then rejoined her relatives in Alberta. We know for certain that by 1916 Thomas McKeague was an American citizen . But, we have come to a dead end trying to determine exactly who came to Canada and when.
We know for certain that Elizabeth Dann of Greystone (1856-1935 and daughter of Alexander Dann) married William Henry McKeague (1851-1928) of Kilspadden, Co Wicklow.
The search is good reason for another trip.
thanks
Bob

If you clan came here in 1910 then they should turn up for you in this census.
You can use it to search for your others also..http://automatedgenealogy.com

Unfortunately we haven't a BMD for Alberta that I know of.

There's an Annie Newell, single who is a servant living in Ontario who was born in Ireland in 1877 and lists her immigration year as 1911?

You can look through western Land Grants but only if you think you will recognize
some of the forenames...as it doesn't give place of birth...
