My grandfather was John Richards, born in 1871. My mother always maintained that Sir Gordon Richards, the jockey, was his cousin's son. I have traced the ancestors of Sir Gordon back to his grandfather, Enoch Richards, who was born in Wombridge in 1836. If the story is true it would mean that John's father was a brother of Enoch. Can anyone shed any light on this, please?
