I've only just registered onto Roots chat. Saw your query on Mackeys of Limerick. My grandfather was born in Castleconnell, Co Limerick. His Uncle Thomas and Auntie Elizabeth both moved to Australia in the second half of the 19th century. Elizabeth became Mother Superior in Presentation Convent in Windsor, Melbourne. She died in 1939. Her brother Thomas, who I believe was older, was a very successful Sheep farmer and there are suggestions that Mackeyville was named after him. I don't believe he married and I assume he also died out there. A Grand Aunt, Rebecca Mackey also moved to Sydney, married a Johnson and together ran The Gresham Hotel in Sydney. Can you offer any help on these people?
