Do you have a firewall?

Maybe your firewall is set too high??

Our firewall is set to standard, but when it gets reset to high, then we have trouble unless we have typed in the sites to which we allow access.

Otherwise I dont have any other suggestions, except to ask your ISP. It is possible that your ISP has blocked them for some odd reason.

http://www.familysearch.org/

In the past few days, each time i try to connect to the above site, i get the 'page cannot be displayed' message.

I have tried this at work today, and no problem, thus showing there is no problem with the site.
I havn't knowingly made any changes to my browser settings, and desperatelty need to get back to the site.

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE

You could try Ctl+F5 to force a reload of the page. But I always use this link...

Did you resolve your problem as I too cannot get onto that site?

All my other genealogy favorites have no problems but familysearch.org will not download.

Tuesday 10th was the first time I was aware of a problem and like you I got onto the site via another computer the next day.

I have tried going in different ways but the hyperlinks do nothing when clicked.
I either get the message "page cannot be displayed" or cannot connect to server.

We have two computers and a laptop all accessing the Internet by a wireless router and familysearch is not available on any of them.

I have a friend, who is a networking expert, coming round tomorrow so I will let you know it he can fix the problem although I feel the fault is not at our end.

Will wait with baited breath!

Reckon that it would be about the same time that I lost the ability to view the site.

No problem with any other site at all. I agree that it looks like the problem is not at our end so to speak, and I wonder just how we can get it corrected if thats the case.

Like to know the outcome of your friends visit, and hopefully the solution...........honestly i will say a prayer tonight!

Cheers,
Derek

Poirot and Boco,

You both use the same Internet Service Provider. I suggest you contact them and give them a link to this topic to help them in their diagnosis.

Also, likewise, it may be worth emailing familysearch.org too. (You may need ot be on a different PC to do that!)

Not good news I'm afraid. My friend couldn't find the problem. All my settings are fine.

I have emailed the LDS for their comments and also looked at my Internet provider's technical site which did not help.

Can't understand my it is only www.familysearch.org which is a problem.

Will let you know if I find a solution,

Regards,

poirot

I mailed tiscali last night, with the details, and a link to this thread.
Mail back telling me that it was received, and their reply will follow.
Expecting them to tell me  nothing to do with tiscali, been reading a lot of posts on help sites regarding tiscali and pages that will not load, and 'not our problem, seems the common reply.

Would like to hear from other tiscali users to know if they can connect

Hello every one,

cantacted tiscali, and their reply is.....its not their problem.

Taking it further with them, as I now know of 8 people who cannot acces thie site, and they are all on tiscali!

Maybe we should all contact them individually and put pressure on them.

Can everyone contact friends and family who might be on tiscali to see if they can access this site?

Shold a new topic be posted just aimed at tiscali useres, or is this just duplicating this topic?
