1821/1841 census Wellington - Powis, Ferriday, Wallett
« on: Tuesday 14 February 06 16:09 GMT (UK) »

Thanks to Mike I have now found my Growcott family in the 1821 census.  I would now like to trace other families that married Grocotts.  I am looking for the Powis, Wallett and Ferriday families.

I am particularly looking for Richard Powis born roughly 1790 who married Procula Wallett, daughter of Isaac Wallett and Mary Dunning bp Wellington 1789.  Richard was the father of Louisa Powis who married Benjamin Growcott in 1840.

Any information about these families would be gratefully received especially any traces of them in the 1821 and 1841 census.

Thanks

Not much luck, I'm afraid.
Only one I could find was Mary Wallett who was 60 in 1821 living with daughter Acquila who was 17.

The census is very limited being only Wellington

1821

I found these Wallets at Ketley Wood

Isaac 36, *his wife 38, Eliner 11, James 9, Mary 7, Lot 4, Hannah 1

There are 4 Powis families, all at Lawley Bank but no Richard or Louisa.

About 4 or 5 Ferriday families but I would need more details of names and dates.

Thank you for that Mike and Alnat - Mary Wallet is I think the former Mary Dunning wife of Isaac Wallett and grandmother of Louisa Powis so now I know roughly when Mary Dunning was born.  Isaac I think is Louisa's uncle bp 1786 Little Wenlock and Acquilla  is her Aunt bp 1799 Wellington? according to the IGI, so it helps me build up a picture of the family.
