Does anyone know of a workhouse in the 1800's in Auchenblae/Laurencekirk?please. Seemingly it was bought over after 1881(don't know exactly when), by a "George Smith" and turned into a house for his family. Thanks

Hiya,
The only one I can google is the Kincardine Combination which covered Laurencekirk. But this seems to have been operational much longer after the time you say.
Another way of finding it would be to find the Smiths in 1891 or 1901 and see if pre-1881 census can highlight what it was by knowing whre it is geographically.
