Whitbread - Solved
« on: Wednesday 15 February 06 10:41 UTC (UK) »

It has long been believed in our family that some way back there was a connection to the Whitbread Brewery family.  I take this with a pinch of salt, but I have just made a connection through my great grandmother Kate Hazard to her grandfather John Whitbread who, according to the 1871 Census (the only place I can find him), was born about 1805 in Know, Donegal.  In 1871 he was in Lincolnshire, which is where most of the Hazards seem to come from (his daughter Ann married Henry Hazard).  I have read that most parish records and all census prior to 1901 were destroyed in 1922, so I'm wondering if there is actually any way I can find out more about this John Whitbread.

Any advice as to where I can possibly go from here would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Fiona
