Who Do You Think You Are?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/familyhistory/wdytya_celeb_gallery.shtml
"Gurinder Chadha is best known as the writer and director of Bend It Like Beckham.
The film's humour and charm delighted audiences around the world, but the process of making it was touched by sorrow - while Gurinder was writing the screenplay, her beloved father Bhajan passed away."
I heard tonights subject being interviewed on BBC Breakfast this morning. I am sure it will be a good one. Last one tonight. Its going to leave a big hole in a wednesday evening.

Enjoyed it and then turned over to Family Ties on BBC4. Wow....over 200 family members headed off to Jamaica for a two week family reunion, having had a previous reunion 4 years earlier, to help add further to their tree research. They stayed at same hotel and had different outings etc planned, including a local graveyard (husband at this point commented that must have been some sight when they all [well, what looked to be a very large number of them anyhow] descended on the graveyard). It was the last in the series too but also very enjoyable.

I think the last one WDYTYR was a little boring,to me anyway, but I guess to the person it was more than interesting. The parish register, was interesting though, especially with the person asleep on the floor in full view of the camera.
Now Family Ties BBC4,that was really interesting, and made more sense of Family Trees.
I thought both programmes gave a good insight on different cultures

AAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHhhhhh!!! This was the episode that I was looking forward to most of all as I'm trying to research my best friends family tree & her grandfather was from Kenya & we know very little about him ( really struggling to find resources!). I've got the flu and fell asleep at 5pm!!! Hadn't set the video and didn't wake up til' 1 am!!! Can anyone tell me if 1. WDYTYA is repeated on Satellite channels so I can beg one of my neighbours to let me watch it at their house or 2. did anyone notice anything mentioned about researching Kenyan families?? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.... Very upset with herself Woodydog!!!

hi woodydog, I have never seen it repeated on the satellite channels unfortunately, perhaps someone else knows different. I thought that pandit was a useful chap. Wish I had one to go to for the family history. I think it made a nice change to view family history through a different culture. I would have loved that chap to have been Shelee Shelee.

I am sure that the programme will be repeated in the near future, they repeated the original series twice within the first year. It is obviously very popular as I ordered some certs last night from GRO and the wait has gone from 4 working days to 14!!!! Cest la vie!

Sorry woodydog, I didnt mean to mislead you but I thought you meant that you hoped they would repeat it later this week as they do now with quite a lot of the more popular programmes on BBC3. i am sure Kerry is right, it will be repeated later in the year.
