I am researching the 238th Canadian Forestry Battalion and how they came to be in Carlisle in WW1 - can anyone help?

I am interested in a JOHN EDWARD WOOD who died in Carlisle and is buried in Carlisle but he married a Carlisle girl, Janet Geddes Rogerson.
