Hi Elizabeth, Thank you very much for your reply and the Baldock info. Every bit helps. I am determined to track down Ann's family. There can't be too many Ann Baldocks born in Lincoln/Wyham area in the period 1807-1809- can there? Her family still remain a mystery; I'll just have to hope someone recognises her name in my various posts.

Thanks Monique. Yes, that would be Carol with whom I am already in contact as her husband is my relation. Another member has imported my GEDCOM, so probably him. Otherwise noone seems to have heard of her. I've spent days, months searching for her........

hi all,
have read through this thread and dont know if my baldock line fits in with any of yours ( i should think it does somewhere , but i dont know where)
im researching the baldocks from metheringham in lincolnshire. the furthest back ive got so far is joseph baldock b1790 in metheringham married to a elizabeth(unknown surname) b 1799 in swineshead??
they had 4 children that i know of.
matthew and william (twins) born 1835 in Heighington, Lincolnshire.
joseph born 1840 in Coningsby, Lincolnshire
and ann born 1844 in metheringham.

matthew b1835 married a sarah ann pattison and they had 8 children all born in metheringham.
does this sound familiar to anyone?

Perhaps married 10 July 1828 at Ruskington - Elizabeth CHEVIN (widow).

William CHEVIN buried at Ruskington 22 July 1827 aged 29.

Not particularly close but marriage of William CHEVIN to Elizabeth HILTON at Doddington 14 May 1823.

thanks for the suggestion geoff , but not one of mine im afraid. im in touch with a alan off genes reunited who has a large amount of baldocks from ruskington and the surrounding area on his tree and ive checked through it and elizabeth chevin(1806-1845) is one of his relations. she married joseph baldock (1804-1853) a butcher and publican from ruskington
unfortunately so far ive failed to find a link from his tree to mine but being able to view his tree comes in handy so i can cross reference .
ive checked through the thread again and cant see any links to his tree from what anyone has posted but if anyone has got links to baldocks in ruskington , let me know and i will check to see if there is any links and put you in touch with him.

that could well be the one im after the dates and place match.
definately one to look into.
ive found the elizabeth clark baptism on the igi , but can i ask where you found the marriage as i cant seem to find that on the igi?
also just think i might have found one of josephs children on freebmd:

Baldcock Joseph Horncastle vol14 page 415

the 1851 census gives joseph jnr`s birthplace as coningsby which is horncastle district ( although the 1881 census gives his birthplace as metheringham)
so looks like im going to have to shell out for another cert !

It's in my Holland West Deanery marriage index.

I suppose you've seen the Joseph and Mary BALDOCK in Potterhanworth who also had a boy Joseph in 1840.

although so far i havent found my baldocks on the 1841 census .ive checked out the family in potterhanworth on the 1841 census and i dont think that can be mine as they are listed as having a son matthew aged 1.
my family did have a son called matthew but he would have been six and there is no mention of matthews twin brother william .

geoff you are a star , that is definately the family im after . that gives me another 2 children to look into that i never knew about as well which might help me find elizabeths surname and with the eldest rebecca gives me more of a clue to the date of marriage. now possibly around 1825.
its a very poor image but it looks like it says baldock not babcock to me so a transcription error there i think.
got to go to work now but thanks so much thats a massive help .

This lot from Metheringham are the ones I am directly descended from too!

I am descended from their son, Joseph, who was born in 1840 and married Rachel Burton from Horncastle. My friend has been creating the family tree for me. Their kids were Matthew and William (the twins), Joseph and Ann. We've not been able to get back any further either so thanks for all the hints! There seems to be loads of Baldocks in Lincolnshire!

Hi, Daz

I've replied to your email - hope my mails got through okay. Debbie (who is compiling my tree) is really confused about your Matthew born 1835 being married to a Sarah as she can find no trace of it. Do you have the marriage certificate? She found a Matthew and Sarah listed in 1871 but their ages are in their 60s and 70s so it can't be them, can it (possibly a brother to Matthew's father Joseph though?)
