Are you searching for ancestors in Co. Wexford? Have a look at this list. You may spot a familiar name. Byrne New Link Members of the Byrne family are buried at Taghmon. Cousins The Cousins families in Ireland have been in south Wexford from early Norman times. The name is said to derive from the Old-French ' Le cosin i.e relation or kinsman . The earliest reference is to Henry Cosin under the years 1282-1283 in "Hore's History of Old Ross"
Cullen Broken Link Hilary Murphy, in her book, "Families of County Wexford", mentions the Cullen family as the "Anglo-Norman" Colyns who were prominent in Co Wexford until the arrival of Cromwell (1649). Furlong Patrick Furlong (born in 1813 died 1853), was a blacksmith near Enniscorthy. His youngest son, John, was born in 1853. His widow Margaret was left to care for their four young boys at a time of extreme hardship ... just after the Great Famine of 1846 and 1847. Hinds / Gird A Marriage Record Listing, found in the Ferns diocese of County Wexford (Ferns Marriage Licenses, Vol. 6, p. 375, Ferns, County Wexford, Ireland- Marriage Bonds Records are no longer extant; only the entries as listed.), shows that Henry GIRD & Mary HIND were married in 1770 in the Ferns Diocese. Both were from Co. Wexford.

O'Hanlon Walsh Broken Link Parle In the Co. Wexford Census for 1659 there were nineteen Parles (Pearles) in the Bargy at that time. In 1563 there is a reference to Thomas Parle of Cowelsheiken, Co. Wexford, being killed in a quarrel. Redmond
Rossiter Broken Link Tracey The Warren family is another old Wexford family. Originally Anglo-Normans, they have been settled in Co Wexford for many centuries. They are connected to the Switzer family, Palatines, or Lutherans who were encouraged to settle in Ireland in the early 18th century. Wolfe

Thank you Christopher - three hits in one list, I've never been so lucky! Rossiters being named frequently as godparents to Parles in Ballindinas, and a Parle marrying a Furlong.
