Carruthers of Cockermouth

I'm interested in all occurances of the name Carruthers in the Cockermouth area.
My particular line is Thomas b. 1870 - Greysouthen, Henry b. 1841 - Abbey Holme and Soloman b. 1812 or 1813 - Westnewton.

Are there any other researchers of the Carruthers family name who are happy to share and discuss findings?

My Carruthers are from Solomon Carruthers & Ann Osborne m1810.  They had a Solomon Carruthers b 1813 who in turn married Mary Sarah Thompson.  They had another son called Robert (my line) who married Rebecca Martin.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
Sounds promising...I've got my Solomon marrying a Sarah Thompson in May 1835 (no mention of a Mary though)
Solomon was born in Westnewton according to the various census I've found him on and later lived in Little Clifton.
Does this sound like Robert's brother?

According to my records Robert & your Solomon are brothers - from Solomon Carruthers and Ann Osborne.


Your Solomon born 17th feb  1813

my Robert 24th feb 1817 (coincidence my younger son was born 24th feb)
