We have been told on two occassions that a new server has been delivered, the last was approximately six months ago....
We have also been told by Tristan himself that the said server would be on line very quickly.... (again some months ago now)
Tristan is not the only person to moderate RootsChat, and it would seem to me that it is not beyond the wit of our membership to either obtain a definitive response, or to arrange for the famous server to be made available via an alternative moderator.
RootsChat is a community. Let us behave like one, and get some action where it is needed in order to respect the hard work and investment of time made by the many members who put their sites on the RootsChat server.
Moderators, are you prepared to help?
How can I or others help?

Let's face it, the server for our free webspace has not appeared, despite various promises. Most of us have moved all or part of our sites to other servers. Will it come back ever? Who knows
I think it is now a waste of our time and the poor Mods time- who have to check what we say on here without commenting.
Maybe we just give up. It's is all very sad. It would have been nice to have had an honest response but I don't think that it's forthcoming - so why waste time worrying over it. Life's too short.
We were lucky to have had the space for free without any advertising except for Rootschat. It is now not there. That is all we know.
Maybe Trystan will respond when he feels that he's ready but maybe he has been let down too
Why should everyone give up? They have invested many hours of their time to put their sites on the Rootschat Server, and they deserve better treatment from the community.
It is the role of the Moderators (in the absence of any concrete action) to deal with the concerns of community members.
And in my view, it is our role to find a solution which keeps everyone happy.
Trystan may or may not have been let down, but he has let his users down even more, simply by misleading them, and not keeping them informed.
Here's something concrete for starters:
I would be happy to help moderate a RootsChat webpages room... I would also be happy to pay a small contribution for a new server, which would be owned by the community... And if maintenance of the server etc were required, I would be happy to help....
Don't give up! RootsChat is it's membership, and we can control our destiny!
Martin
