I have just  received Death Certificates  1955 for Ethell Vessey .& her husband Arthur Albert 1954


The informants were son & daughter-in law Vivian Stannard Vessey & Flora.?  living at 45 Shandow Brae Balloch  Dunbartonshire

This certificate has  gven me a wife for their son Vivian Stannard Vessey He was born 1901. Bexley Kent.

Is there any  index that could be looked at apart from Scotlands People
that information could be given of Vivians and Floras marriage

Hello Dianne, there is nothing on FreeBMD Index: 1837-1983 for Vivian Vessey other than his birth which obviously you know.

If he married Flora in Scotland it must have been later than 1930 as SP has no records of a V. Vessey marrying at all.

Hi Lindsay,
Had just about given up on an anwer for this one.Seeing  Vivian Stannard Vessey was born 1901 so it quite possible he  did marry after 1930 It is funny how I have been able to go back as far as 1732 with my Vessey family and  yet have found it harder to trace bdm in later years
My grandfather left England in 1901 to settle in New Zealand  and never had any contact with the family he left behind in England & Scotland and I just know that  I must have some Gt Aunts cousins  etc over  in Britain ? that are still living.

I guess I will just have to keep  on searching

I tried with www.192.com (online directory) for Vessey in Balloch but it came back with no results. The street name was completely unrecognised by itself, can you check the spelling again? Might be worth you looking at 192 anyway because it has the electoral rolls as well as phone numbers, you might come across some 'familiar' names.

Maybe if someone is going to New Register House they might be able to look up his death cert for you?

Flew to NZ myself last week to look for some of mine but no joy either, I think you are so right about it being easier going back than forward  Smiley

I was in NZ last month looking for some of mine, the Registrar (BDM) in Boulcott Street, Wellington is very good, don't have to book or anything, just walk right in and everything is available on fiche.

Hi Everyone that replied to my request. My computor crashed  six weeks ago  and I have just purchased a new one

What with losing all my e-mails and getting new user names and password  etc I am at last back on to Rootschat
This is my first night back

Thank goodness I had all my Family Tree backed up

Are you still looking for links to  V.S.Vessey.  He was the son of Ethel who was the sister of my g.grandfather Frank Randall.  There were 10 children in the family and Ethel was the youngest I think.  Her father was William Randall  and her mother was Caroline .  They lived in Crayford Kent, you can find them in the1881 census.

I have only just found your posting and am not familiar with  how this site works but I may be able to give you more info sometime.
