Irish Immigration to Whithorn.
« on: Monday 20 February 06 10:24 UTC (UK) »

does anyone have any information about Irish immigration to Wigtownshire post 1798 rebellion in Ulster?

My ancestor Thomas Clark, born Ireland c 1773, settled in Whithorn and his children produced families of Clarks, Gibsons, McAvoys and McWhirters, mostly agricultural labourers or farm servants so any info regarding the working and living conditions of these people would be welcome.

I have the basic family tree data of births, marriages and deaths for about 75 people down to 1875 but nothing in the 20th Century.

Any live relatives out there?
