Old news detailing sports, crime, violence and suffering in Victorian Wigan.

Local directories covering the townships of Ince and Hindley, 1925.

Wigan Year Book, 1889
40 pages of useful information about Wigan along with a local chronology.

Wigan Views, 1908
Old booklet with lots of previously unseen photos of local businesses. The full title of the book is "Souvenir of Wigan Views and the District".

Wigan Borough Guide, c1910
Probably the earliest Wigan Borough Guide printed. Adverts have superb old photographs of shop fronts etc.

Picture Post, 1939

The History Shop, Library Street, Wigan WN1 1NU  The Taylor Gallery is situated on the Shop's first floor
(in the old reference library). The Gallery contains Wigan's fine local history collection of books, pamphlets, maps, photographs and genealogy material and it is equipped with a permanently manned study area.
