Hello, i am looking in to my family history, my family's are the Rowlands and Holmans. My great great grand father was a James Rolands,he had a son Thomas in about 1888,he married a Violet Rose Holmans in 1916 in Hereford, then had the then had the following children Albert George Rowlands born in Tredegar 1918 (my grand father) and Phyllis Rowlands in 1925 born withington,Herefordshire if any one has any information about the above family's please get back,i do no that a lot of them die in the 1940s from TB. MANY THANKS, Robert.
I am struggling here to find them in Herefordshire,
I can find a Thomas Rowlands aged 4 and his brother George aged 6 in the workhouse in Hereford. But this makes them born in 1895 and 1897. But no other Rowlands in workhouse with them
Do you have a date or age of death for Thomas ?
I cannot locate James either - is this name correct or is there a chance it is something else. Did Thomas himself die in the 1940's of TB ?
yes it was James,i have a copy of the marriage of Thomas Rowlands to Violet Rose Holmans in January 1916,but Thomas father James was deceased at the time of wedding.
Yes i did see a Thomas and brother in the work house, but as you said the dates of birth are not right.unless its a miss take on the census.
Thomas die of TB in April 1942,age 54 Phyllis his daughter die June 1942,age 17 Albert his grandson die in sept 1943 ,age 2, Dorothy his daughter in law die may 1944,age 28 Albert his son die august 1945 age 27
As you can see i have not much to go on,i know that James was a miner when he was a live. Robert
