I've been looking for a Sarah bates from Cherrighton. I have come across a family from Great Bolas which is very near cherrighton, Shropshire. Can any one tell me more about them from any of the census reprots.
Andrew and Ann Bates
Children:
Sarah-1827
Robert-1830
William-1832
Any info would be appreciated

cant find this family but there is a family with Sarah Bate without the S in Cherrington in 1841.Cant find one in Great Bolas but that doesnt mean they dont exist.It is quite hard to search the 41 without search tools.
There is a Bate family in Cherrington 1841 905-03/6
Mary Bate 55 widow crossed out.
Samuel 25
Ann 25
Sarah 12
Ellen 9
Ellen 3
all said to be born in the county.Why 2 Ellens I do not know.

My guess is that mary was the mother
Samuel married Ann and
they had a child Ellen.
The Sarah and other Ellen must be siblings to Samuel .
Are there any other Bates or Bate families in or arround Cherrington. The Great Bolas family I found on the Mormon Family Search site.

Bates Family Cherrington
You will find a lot of information on the Bates Family of Cherrington if you look on the Tibberton Parish Registers in Shropshire on the hughwallis site.
if you do not know this it enables you to search IGI parish by parish.
It is a very long addy so if you google hugh wallis you will find it easily.
Tibberton is about 3/4 mile from Cherrington and is the parish church.

Thank you for the information. I have not been able to find the marriage of my Sarah Bates and JOhn Pott. All I have to go on is that Sarah is shown as being born in Cherrigton on the 1851 census. I will search your suggestion and see what I can find. If you can find any thing else that will help me I would appreciate
it.

I think I have tracked down Sarah's birth from the info on this thread so I will see what I can find and get back to you if I find anything

I do not have Sarah's birth date, all I know is that she marrried a John Pott,
Her date of death was August 2nd, 1861, at the age of 33. I also stated incorrectly above that it was the 1851 census but it was the 1861 census that shows her and John living at 74 Purley Hills in Hamstall Ridware along with there children, her age is shown as 35. Her place of birth is shown as Cherrighton. So according to her death certificate, that would put her birth at 1827 or 1828. I hope this clarifies things as the info above was discussed prior to me gaining the information I have here.

19 April 1829
Tibberton
Shropshire
Parents: Arthur and Mary Bates
Tibberton is the Parish for Cherrington.
There is no village of Cherrington it is just a couple of farms and a few scaterred cottages.
These are extracted records so should be reliable.

I had a look at the parish records available on IGI for Eccleshall Staffs where my Ralphs baptism is recorded.
I cant find any thing at the moment that links them but there
may well be a connection.
I will carry on searching

Its been some time since I've been able to search this side of the family but I took a look back at your posting and thought I'd send a quick e-mail to see if you were able to find a connection. I still have not been able to find the marriage of Sarah Bate (s) and John Pott. I'm hoping that there might be some additional information available to search for their marriage.
