Dawley Pubs
« on: Thursday 05 May 05 14:23 BST (UK) »

My gggrandfather is listed on the 1861 census as the landlord of the Swan Inn on Dawley High Street, does anyone know if the pub exists under a different name or know where it once stood.  I live in the Telford area and i've never heard of it and it doesn't exist under that name.

Thanks

Hi Lee

Here's an interesting bit about Dawley
http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/content/articles/2005/03/23/dawley_town_guide_feature.shtml

I suggest that you try the Shropshire Archives (and as you live in Telford you could visit the Archives in person!!)
