1841 Census - PIPER
« on: Wednesday 22 February 06 10:43 GMT (UK) »

I'm looking for Mary Ann Piper (about 17 in 1841) and her father John Piper who died pre 1849. My gg-grandmother and ggg-grandfather. That's all I know about them  Sad His occupation on her marriage certificate was 'dead'.

Mary Ann put her birthplace as Totham,Middx in 1861. Which I took to mean Tottenham. Then I found her in 1851 and she had put Edmonton which is close to Tottenham.

Now there's a slight possibility that they lived just over the border in Herts. Is there a name index for Herts 1841 that someone could search for me?

These two have been evading me for years.

Hi there

As yet there is not a complete index for Herts in 1841, though a partial subscription index is available.

You may get lucky, but I think you may have to wait until a national index is available for this.

Thanks Rick

The site you kindly pointed me to states that the Herts 1841 index is complete! I'll have a look later - when I'm not at work  Wink
