In the late 1500/1600's its stating on the parish records for my family tree.. Downes of Aston
I'm a bit confused because there appears to be quite a few Astons. My lot are from South Shropshire, was there a place actually called Aston, or would be it short for something like Aston Scott?
Any idea's would be greatly received

There is an Aston roughly 2 miles east of Wem - North Shropshire.

Aston Botterell - 8 miles south west of Bridgnorth
Aston Eyre - 4 miles west of Bridgnorth
Aston on Clun - between the towns of Clun and Craven Arms
