I am trying to trace the family of Stacey Jakes born 1790 in Tetworth Huntingdonshire. He died in 1851. He was married to Sophia Lenton and their eldest child was Susannah Jakes born in 1820 in Toseland Huntingdonshire. Any help appreciated. Many thanks.
I wonder if this might be him: there's a Stacy Jeakins baptised at Everton cum Tetworth on 7 Feb 1790, son of Stacy and Elizabeth Jeakins (Parish Register transcript published by Beds & Luton Archives and Records Service). Tetworth was a hamlet in Everton.
25 Dec 1781 at Everton cum Tetworth Stacy Jeakins marr Elizabeth Toats or Toates both otp
I can't find his marriage to Sophia though - was he married as Jakes or some other variation?
If it is the right Stacy then there are a lot of Jeakins in Everton and I can give you plenty of details regarding earlier families

Hi David, Many thanks for the reply. It could be my Stacey. I do know that he was a farmer at one point and that he was married to Sophia as she out lived him. Could you perhaps send me the earlier families. I shall have to put in a look up for 1841 census for Stacey (Stacy) and see if anyone can help there. Thanks again

I'll go through Everton PR shortly
When he married in Toseland he was registered as Jeaks
There's a burial on 15 Oct 1851 at Everton cum Tetworth of Stacey Jakins age 66, and the same death is shown on FreeBMD in the St Neots registration district which includes both Tetworth and Toseland. In 1851 he was aged 61, by 1861 Sophia was a widow. There's only one Stac* born in Hunts in 1851, but there was another Stacy Jeakins baptised in Everton in 1785. My Toseland burials only go up to 1837 so it would still be worth checking the parish register or the GRO indexes on www.ancestry.co.uk

I’ve been through Everton parish register transcript and this is what I think the tree looks like, always assuming that Stacy Jeakins christened 1790 at Everton cum Tetworth is the same as Stacy Jeaks who married Sophia and who appeared as Jakes in censuses as being born 1790 at Tetworth.
1. Thomas Jekins chr 11 Feb 1673/4 son of William and Ann of Tetworth m Margaret Stacy 10 May 1696 Both of Everton (Only Stacy entry in the Parish Register) Children Margaret chr 3 Jun 1697 bur 22 Nov 1706 Thomas chr 1689/90 Thomas chr 17 Aug 1701 William chr 6 Jan 1703/4 (see 2 below) Henry chr 20 Oct 1706 marr Elizabeth Drew 9 Oct 1726 John chr 10 Jan 1708/9

5. William chr 11 Apr 1765 (bur 18 Feb 1849 “age 87”) marr Rose c 1785 (Rose buried 23 Aug 1846 age 85) Children Stacy chr 18 Dec 1785 (born Gamlingay according to 1851) bur 15 Oct 1851 Ann chr 6 Jul 1788 James chr 10 Mar 1793
I suspect that Thomas chr 1701 may also have had a son named Stacy born c 1721 as there is a Stacy Jeakins marrying Jane Fitch on 7 Sept 1742, but he was buried on 11 June 1750. They had a son Stacy chr at Gamlingay, Cambs on 8 Nov 1745. There seems to have been movement between Everton and Gamlingay as there are a couple of other Jeakins marriages in Everton where the Jeakins groom is of Gamlingay.
The name is spelt Jeakes, Jeaks, Jakes, Jekins, Jeakinges, Jakings, Jakins, Jeakins, Jekyns, Jeykins !
