I have just joined RootsChat, so I hope I am posting this message in the right place. I am trying to find out who the first family to live in 12 Cedars Villas were in Hampton Wick. I know the Rudyard family lived there in 1901 but I am interested to find out if there were any other families before them. I don't believe the house was built in 1891. Many thanks

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I am quite new to all this, so I really appreciate your suggestion which I will give a try, I think I can get a ref no for the family who lived there in 1901 from the census?

Hello Jane
I had a look at the map but couldn't make anything out on it! I paid to look at census returns and 12 Cedars villas in 1901 was occupied by Letitia M Rudeyard, her 3 adult children and a servant(sometimes spelt Rudeyerd). In 1891 she lived in Kent. I am interested to know if she was the first occupant. The address has changed as you say it might have done, but we have a map (no date,c1900) and then it was Cedars Villas, however I only got information up when I put in Hampton Wick and nothing else. Thanks ever so much for your help.

Hi Jane
Thanks for all that info. I actually went to Richmond this afternoon and found out quite a lot about the house. Its very probable the Rudeyard family were the first occupants but I have a bit more research to do. I'll look up curious fox, sounds intriguing and I am very grateful for all your help.
