Hi
What would you like done? Basic repair, colourisation, or both?
Is this the original photo that has been, shall we say, "enhanced"? I would guess that at some stage someone has been let loose with some paint and tried to colour the picture. My mother had the same habit when she was young and there are now many family pictures with odd colours all over them.
I am assuming that you want the additions removed and the picture brought back to something more realistic. This can be done, but it may need a donor picture for the parts which are obscured, and the correct image may take some time to find.
I'll give this a go over the next few days. It looks an interesting challenge
Regards
Glen

Hi Thelma
If you have a photo of yourself from the same sort of time which is roughly taken front-on and roughly the same contrast, it should be possible to put you in the picture, so to speak.
And also, do you have a photo of the sister at the back which would show her hairstyle?
I'll be on the lookout for the right donor pictures and as soon as I find them I'll get straight on to this
Glen

Hi Thelma
After a lucky find of a photo of an almost identically designed dress as I can assume your sister was wearing (Here http://www.woodlandfarmsantiques.com/ladies/40ladies11_15/vertical/32119/index.html), I've managed to do some work on this picture and get it to a stage I'm reasonably happy with.
Hoepfully this now looks more "natural" and has taken the emphasis away from the original "additions" that your sister made.
[If you still would like to be in the picture, and have a suitable picture of yourself, please post it and I'll try to merge you into this photo. It doesn't need to be a studio portrait, just so long as its a decent size, the right sort of age, roughly taken from the front, and clear enough]
Hope this is what you wanted
Glen

Beautiful!!!!! Thank YOU so Much. Ive had to wait so many years But worth every one of them to see it as it is now. You have made a Old lady Very Happy. Much better than the Van Gough Enhancement I would have got back to you sooner but was so excited at the thought of you putting me in the picture I tried to scan one to send you.On moving the scanner it broke the socket at the back where the wire goes in, I tried to scan it to no avail but it must have been shorting and burnt out something on my computer and have had to get it fixed. So sorry for the delay You TRULY are an Artist. Hi Thelma
Sorry to hear about your computer woes. They're a nightmare when they work, but when they don't they feel like an old friend who's gone away and we can't wait to get them back. Well, at least thats how I feel (maybe I should get out more!!!)
Anyway, I've managed to shoehorn you into the picture. I hope it doesn't look too fake. I know you would have prefered to be over behind your mother, but when I tried to reverse you so you'd be looking in the right direction, it just didn't look right somehow. Hope you don't mind the change of dress either. Your uniform didn't fit with the studio setting.
Regards
Glen

Sorry Thelma,
I couldn't resist playing with this.
This is the previously unknown "second picture" from the set, where mother and sister have swapped places so that all her daughters can be round her. She looks much better as the centre of attention, as every mother should be.
