1723 Marriage Robert WINTER/Ann WOODALL St Margaret's Westminster, any details?
« on: Monday 04 February 08 13:21 GMT (UK) »

Hi, Everyone,
The surname of the first wife of Robert WINTER, b. 1701 in Longham, Norfolk has continued to elude me.  He started a family in 1723 with an Ann (surname unknown) in Longham, before she died in 1733; then he re-married an Ann LUCAS there and started another family in 1736.
The only possible match that someone very kindly turned up on another thread here for me on Boyd's was a wedding between a Robert WINTER and an Ann WOODALL at St Margaret's Westminster in 1723.
Have no evidence that Robert ever made his way to London from Norfolk, but if there is anyone with access to the original entry I would appreciate it very much if they could see whether there are any further details on the bridegroom there.
Many thanks,
keith

Hi Keith

The entry simply reads

November 1723

4th Robert Winter to Anne Woodhall

Let's be grateful Lord Hardwicke got his marriage act through Parliament in 1753

Dawn,
Thanks so much for looking this up for me, and yes, it is good that things became more organised from 1753...
