Hi All,
Any else see a very interesting Timewatch programme this evening on BBC2 about JPAC. They were trying to identify 2 lots of bones found in France which they thought were Missing In Action from WW1
They finally traced one of the men - by luck and great judgment - to a Francis Lupo who was killed in July 1918. It was done the same way we trace family history records - piecing together small bits of information - while they also had all the forensic information as well. Nice to see that the US try to clear up the 90,000 MIA people they have from all conflicts. I did not know they did that.
As I said a VERY interesting programme - look out for the repeats.
Cheers
Keith

Very interesting programme. I love all that forensic stuff.
It's a pity they can't have all the records in one place and that they can't enter all the dental records on to a computer.
It's amazing that these remains are still turning up 90 years later.
Timewatch is a great programme

No - sorry Sasha - I was just being hopeful
They should make more of these type - instead of the usual rubbish of Celebs doing nothing!!
Timwatch is on - but not looked to see what they are doing.

Very interesting programme. It was only the Wallet with Lupo's name, that started the ball rolling. Had they not had the light filters, it may have gone the way of being a girl gone into war..
I did think about the, how many other thousands still there. Is there a figure for our own MIA's? Do our Commonwealth War Graves have the soldiers or are they Memorial Headstones for them?
Also, the trenches that are being found in France at the present time? The artifacts that are being dug up, if it's not done carefully, then the clue's for those soldiers will be lost.
There are several close family members of my own, that were "lost" in the Great War. I remember very well, going to the ceremony on Rememberance Day, to remember our Brothers and Uncles.
