Hello Gougy, thanks for your reply.
I have recently started trying to find out more about my great great grandmother's family, the Harveys. I have managed to find out that Bridget Harvey, my great great grandmother was born in St Just. There is a census entry for 1841 with her grandfather Michael Harvey and his wife Catherine Semmons and their children at St Just, Bridget or Biddy's mother was called Sarah or known as Sally. I find her living with Michael in 1871 and being named as Biddy on the census, but her mother Sarah or Sally Harvey appears to be married to a Thomas Hicks by then on this census and I wondered why Biddy was not living with them and the other children noted on the census. I can only assume she was illegitimate? and stayed with her grandparents when her mother married. It would be nice to find out more about Biddy or Bridget, especially her birth certificate and her mother Sarah's marriage certificate. As for Biddy's grandparents I have managed to find out that Michael's father was called Samuel and Catherine's father was called John, but I would like to go back further if I could on then. Regards Lemmons.

Is this your Bridget on the 1881??
1881 census 70 Duffryn St, Llanwonno, Glamorgan, Wales RG11 - 5295 / 128 p.72
John NETHERCOTT Head 28 Colly Laborer Blackwood, Monmouth Sarah NETHERCOTT Wife 39 St Just, Cornwall Bridget HARVEY Step Dau Unm 20 St Just, Cornwall Richard HARVEY Step Son Unm 17 Coal Miner St Just, Cornwall Mary J. HARVEY Step Dau 12 Scholar St Just, Cornwall Sarah A. HARVEY Step Dau 10 Scholar St Just, Cornwall Philip HARVEY Step Son 6 Scholar Mount Ash, Glamorgan John NETHERCOTT Son 2 Mount Ash, Glamorgan Jesse NETHERCOTT Dau 6 months Mount Ash, Glamorgan
From FreeBMD...
Marriages Dec Q. 1878 Merthyr Tydfil District Vol. 11a p.533
John NETHERCOTT and on same page... Sarah HICKS
Can't find a marriage for Sarah and a Thomas HICKS, but FreeBMD coverage of marriages is not complete. You might have to trawl through the free marriage registration index on ancestry.co.uk toi find it
As for grandfather Michael - in the 1871 listing his wife is Sarah, not Catherine? And I found this on the wonderful West Penwith Resources site http://west-penwith.org.uk/justmarg.htm
Michael HARVEY married Sarah WILLIAMS on 4 May 1833 Both of the parish, both made their mark Witnesses: Thomas Trembath, John Tregear
It's also the only one listed on the IGI
However.. Michael's parents could be..
Samuel HARVEY married Catherine SEMMONS on 29 July 1791 at St Just in Penwith (IGI and West Penwith site)
and I've found a Samuel HARVEY bapt 29 Dec 1763 at St Buryan Parents - John HARVEY and Jane
which might be worth keeping in mind.
On the IGI there are several Catherines bapt St Ives and one from St Just..
Catherine SEMMENS bapt 1st Nov 1772 at St Just In Penwith Parents - Peter SEMMENS and Esther
possible marriage for them too..
Peter SIMONS married Esther MATTHEW 24 Jun 1765 at St Just In Penwith also Peter SYMONS bapt 27 Mar 1737 at St Just In Penwith Father - John SYMONS
That should keep ya going for a while

Hi, I would like to say a big thank you Gougy and Jarose for your help in finding information about Bridget and her family, very grateful for this, it is great to be able to go back further now. It is my Bridget listed with John Nethercott and her mother, in 1881 Llanwonno census and she married the next year to a Frederick Pothecary. So I am slowly piercing the bits together on her. Once again thanks.
