Looking for 1841 Census details for
Walter Davis, age c40, Labourer or Waggoner, N Eliza Davis, Wife, age c30, Y & family
Suspect son George born 1840/41 living with them and possibly son William born 1830-32 (ages vary on subsequent census).
(As ever the spelling of Davis varies over the years - Davies or Davis)
In 1851 they are recorded living at "Vention", East Dean. Same address is given on 1881 Census with "Moorwood", East Dean given as address in 1861. Not being familiar with the area, not sure if these are house or village/district names in East Dean.
Can anyone help?
Many thanks

Curious as the birthplace given for all the children on later census is east Dean or Vention - but that doesn't prove anything!
Thanks for checking

Re your enquiry
Moorwood is a small hamlet above Lydbrook and Vention Lane links Moorwood ath the top with the main Lydbrook, Ross road. Not many properties in total. Years ago the Forest of Dean was split into East & West Dean Rural District Councils. Now amalgamated into Forest of Dean District. Only found family on 1851 census.
