Hi,
I am trying to trace the Sarge(a)nt family, who seem to originate from the Little Wilbraham area of Cambridgeshire. I have a Shadrach Sargeant, born Little Wilbraham around 1792, who married a Daucus (Dorcus) Hunt in 1811 in Wicken. They had at least one child, Shadrach. He had at eat one child, also Shadrach who was born either 1843 or 1846 in Chippenham, Cambs. He marrried HArriet from Bermondsey, London and that's where they moved to.

From this point on, I have plenty of 'solid' evidence and details. It is the Wilbraham/Wicken/Chippenham families I would like to get more details on. Can anyone help ?

           Have you tried the Cambridgeshire fhs site it is great and has the index to the 1841 and 1851 census plus chr 1801-1837

Found Shadrach on 1841 census age 45 living with wife also 45

spelt like this

Shadrik  Sargent  45 horseheath, Cambridgeshire (living here not necesserily born here)
Daucus  Sargent  45  Horseheath.

again in the 1851

Shadrach   59   Fulbourn
Dorcas       57   Fulbourn

couldn't find anothe Shadrach so I tried the chrs

Shadrach chr 1812  wicken  parents Shadrach and Dorcas
George     chr 1833  Fulbourn  All Sts      "                  "

Jemima  1829  Burwell
George   1833    "           Parents Shadrach and Dorcas for all
George   !835     "


In burials there is George who died 1837 age 3 in Burwell and also a william died the same year in Burwell age 14mts
Jemima died age 2 weeks 1829

they seem a really misfortunate family. Hope you find what you are looking for. All the chr and burials came under all the different varients of your surname You should visit the site and see for yourself .
