1851 walmgate york (sorted now thank you)
« on: Saturday 25 February 06 19:00 GMT (UK) »

Does anyone know why I can't find William and Hannah Timmins on the 1851 census? I've spent all afternoon on Ancestry looking for them.  I've looked in both York and Durham (where they moved to at some point) and can find nothing. Any help would be great. With help Hannah has been found but still looking for William, he is a travelling basket dealer so probably could be anywhere!

Hi Sue,

Do you know their ages and birthplaces? Also children you expect them to be with?

Sorry, details would help wouldn' t they?  Hannah was born 1816 in Yarm and William in London either 1807 or 1797 (think probably 1807) , they would have had 3 sons by then I think, William, George and Charles.
Thank you

Sue,

I trawled through your posts in the meantime and you talk about the 1861 census somewhere, so I assume you have it. Could you please post the complete details?

Hi Tanya
Blimey that was quick, yes those ages match and William is a travelling salesman, he was away in 1861 too.
The rest of the family was in Holy Trinity, Mickelgate in 1861 but it still says they were both married.  It also said she was a basket dealer and he was a travelling basket dealer.
Thank you
