At http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl you can search on first names if they are unusual. I tried it and it works  The problem is it is incomplete and starts in 1837 which may not be far enough back for you.

Thanks for the Hessie-list. I'm starting to go through them now.
Thanks also to Ely-lite. At the the moment I have my daughter, her mother, her grandmother, her greatgreataunt (she had no children, so the name was passed on through another daughter) and her greatgrandmother. I tried "freeBMD" and I think I located one of "our" Hessies, the greatgreataunt.
I'm now trying to confirm this. Once again, thaks !
