If anyone out there has the 1851 census for Errol in Perthshire would they be kind enough to look and see if a John Brodie birth 1822/3 wife Jane or Jean 1826 were living there at that time as they were married in 1844 they may have had 3 or 4 children. They had a son James born in 1848 somewhere in Perth but I am not sure where.
John was a laborer and had worked at a variety of jobs on farms as a stonemason, in the weaving trade, perhaps as a fireman on the railways.
His wife would also probably be working, she had worked in hotels and in the weaving trade. Cheers Heather
Hi I can tell you that the surname of Brodie does not appear in the 1851 census for Errol. I do not have an exhaustive listing for the County of Perth, but there is a group of 11 Brodies listed as living in the Parish of Caputh in 1851. David - 9 David - 40 James - 7 Janet - 44 Jean - 80 John-11 John-43 Margery -36 Thomas-74 William - 17
