trying to send a photo - help!
« on: Sunday 05 March 06 10:55 GMT (UK) »

ok, I'm trying hard to do this on my own without success!
1.    I started a new topic and wrote my message
2.    I clicked on send attachment
3.    clicked on the little box next to the attachment name. (sorry, mine is in french and says par       courrier)
4.    chose my file and photo names, which then came up in the long box
5.    thought, that looks right, and clicked post --- and nothing happened
6.    clicked post again and it said the file was too big, bit it was only one small photo that had been emailed to me.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG PLEEEASE!!

If it said tooo big - it must have been - could be a small photo with lots of data - how many kbs does it say the photo  is on your hard drive?

Check also is was of the correct type - jpg etc

Then just try again!!  Wink

Cheers

Keith

P.S. - you might now have to alter the name - it will say already have that file!!

Hi Sushi,

have you had a look here ?
Adding images to Posting & Profiles
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,130922.0.html

As Keith says, computers don't lie.
If the image is very small, maybe it's in BMP format, in which case, look at the first section in the above topic

Good luck,
Bob

  Now Bob & Keith,
                               You know better!
Download Irvan view, it's free. Copy and paste your pic in edit, in Irvan view.
Go to Image and resize it to 400.  Save it in a new name.
This is because it's new and not the old one.
When you attach it in the post, go for the new one.

Sushi, I hope this works.   Grin  Grin

Are we talking pixels or kilobytes here ??

300 pixels is a bit small for restoration work but 300 KB (kilobytes) is the maximum kilobyte size of the image.

Lesanne, maybe you could modify your post to make it clearer  Wink

Whoah! thanks everyone, I will study all your suggestions in depth.
I am so computer illiterate it's unbelievable. My other excuse is my software is all in french, which is hard as well.
I had saved the emailed photo into the wrong thing making it too big. Then I discovered it wasn't JPG it was BTM or something, anyway, I sorted it out with brute force and ignorance! ha ha! and now it has appeared, I hope it is ok!
thanks so much for all your suggestions!
