I have had a quick go at making the trim white. Probably too white though. I need more practice.
Thanks again, you are so clever and he looks wonderful in colour

Hi Jackie,
I also used to "clean" the edges of the Photo's
where shown. Now I tend to leave them as I understand that they can give the experts a clue as to the date. Having said that I tend to be erratic depending
on what sort of rush I'm in. It's just a pity that I had to rush this but I am
just trying to get my head around 1862 handwritten Birth registers for
transcribing.

Kizmiaz's posting. You are doing great girl.We shall soon be asking you to
colourise our photo's. Keep it up, practise makes perfect (now I know where
I am going wrong)

Hi Jackie,
I thought I was going " Doo Lally" when I re-read this posting.
Then I realised that I had not seen your first comment regarding the trim
but my response had taken me to your second comment. I wrongly assumed
that you meant the trim of the photo. ( I'm must keep taking the tablets) I must admit that
I took a risk re the colour of the trim etc. (this comes from rushing). Thats why
I apologised in advance for my mistakes. If I had taken the time I would have checked against photo's I took years ago at Windsor of the Queens guard, but
I assumed different regiments had differences in the uniform.

Hi Jackie,
We will get it right eventually, I am still not sure
about the sleeve trim though.

Have you sent this to Ivor on the Irish Guards site Jackie.  He would love it.  I suggest you send the b/w one.  It's a lovely photo in any colour.

Hi Jackie hooked this out of my old holiday photo's.
Don't know the regiment but I understand it'smainly the number
of buttons and their arrangement that alters plus the odd small addition

Lets see if this post O.K. May have to crop and resize.

Hi Jackie,
This is a cropped photo from my old holiday snaps.
He is guarding the Queen at Windsor castle. Haven't a clue
who he is, he wouldn't talk to me.
Anyway, have a good look at everything and we will try to establish
a final photo. ( I've looked at more Irish Guard websites and not one of
them shows the ceremonial uniform. Very interesting sites though)
