Thorp of Preston Candover, Hampshire Books and History
« Reply #15 on: Wednesday 16 May 07 01:56 BST (UK) »

Dear all, I realize that there are quite a few books published on the Hampshire and the South Downs, with photographs, sketches, images, family names and history of the towns and villages.

Please can you tell me which books may include family names such as THORP, HILL, *BRADBY \ *BRADLEY, also if there are stories related to these family names or the NEW INN Public House at Preston Candover, and if the books include photographs, sketches, images, or history of the towns and villages.

Axford
Brown Candover
Chilton Candover
Herriard
Preston Candover

*BRADBY \ BRADLEY please check the family names here..

Please include ISBN numbers when possible.

Many thanks for your help,
Kind regards,
Jed

Hi Jed,

This is an old thread!

I have checked for a marriage of James & Jane in Hampshire and drawn a complete blank.  Sad  I can find a marriage for James & Sarah in 1821 in Preston Candover.

Back to an earlier query:

Walter Thorp married Elizabeth Grover at New Alresford 22 Apr 1783.

Walter Thorpe married Catherine Field 23 Jan 1755 Preston Candover.

Please can anyone find any data on The New Inn Public House at Preston Candover?
« Reply #18 on: Saturday 30 August 08 23:45 BST (UK) »

Please can any one help find some history, archives or photographs on The New Inn Public House in Preston Candover, Hampshire?

My great great grandfather James Thorp was Inn Keeper at the The New Inn at Preston Candover during 1841 & 1851 followed by Ann his daughter and son in law Henry Hill Licensed Victualler of Romsey during the 1861 and 1871 census returns?

I would love to know if there is any thing at all on the New Inn no matter how small, and even better if there's mention of my Thorp or Hill family.

Many thanks
