help needed in finding 2 Birth details, PLEASE

Hi everyone

Dawn and me are trying to find the birth details of Doreen Ivy Gillard & her brother John Gillard, so we can order the certs.
The problem is that their Father married twice and we dont know which wife is the Mother of who.
We have Doreens & Johns marraige certs. Their Father John Gillard was born and died in Devon, so i would have thought the children were, as they also married in Devon.
The 2 possile Mothers are : Mary Jane MARE  &  Elizabeth HODGSON.

Going by the ages off the marraige certs...

Doreen Ivy Gillard  1925

John Gillard  1920


Any help would be gratefully received

Hi Caz
ancestry.co.uk have the full images of the BMD registers on at the moment - free to search.   You have to be a bit imaginative about names as some pages appear to be missing but if you choose another name, very close in the alphabet, then you can usually get to the right page and there are arrows at the top to move forward or back a page.
With luck you should be able to find your birth entries there.  Devon entries should start with volume reference 5b.

Morning Andrea, we've been searching on Ancestry and we cant find them, in fact, im on there now again trying to see them.
To be able not to find 1 birth....ok i suppose...but 2.

Im just putting in Gillard from the year 1915, as we all have found out they can sometimes lie about their ages !!!, im even just looking at the names, in case they were born out of Devon, which i dont think is likely, but i still cant find either of them.  Huh

I have searched through from the year 1915 to 1930...........with no joy.

Any ideas on how we can find their birth details   Huh

Are you searching all possible spellings?   Gilliard etc.  If I want to know all variations I look at familysearch as some of the ones on there are most unusual.   Never would have thought of them in a month of Sundays.   Do you know the area of Devon?   Might be worth writing to the local register office and asking them to look.

Thanks Andrea, i did'nt try a different way of spelling their surname because in the past we have never had any problems with the spelling, just strange how we cant find the birth details for the brother and sister.
Im a member of another site that deal with a lot of Devon enquiries, i'll see if anyone there can help.
