Address in Brighton.............
« on: Sunday 05 March 06 23:34 GMT (UK) »

I have 15 Viaduct Road, Brighton as the address where my gr gr grandmother lived in 1947/48, I wondered if it was possible to find out who lived with her and if it was possible to find out how long she lived here.....
Thankyou for any help

Hi

The 1949 Brighton Street Directory lists the occupants of 15 Viaduct Road, Brighton as Miss F Massie and Mr Edgar Moran.
Miss Massie was still there in 1958, but by 1970 this small terraced house had been converted into 15 (Barbara Jones) and 15a (Fred L Savage)

Try asking the Family History centre to find the address on other directories or get them to look it up on the Electoral Roll.

Hi Roy
Thankyou for that, will do what you suggest, wondered if Elizabeth had been living there with family!!!
This side of the family forms a brick wall where ever I turn.... :-(
I find Elizabeth on the 1871, 1881 and 1901 census but as for the 1891 can't find her anywhere and it is her husband, Joseph Holley I am trying to find the info on...lol
ey oh, will find him one day....

Regards

Me again

Excuse my curiosity but I cant see how Elizabeth and Joseph Holley of 1871, 1881 & 1901 relate to Viaduct Road in 1948?

By the way, I also noted a Mrs E A Holley at 21 Haywards Road Brighton in 1949 if that is any further help.

Hi Roy
Elizabeth was born in 1860, I found her on 1861, 71 and 81 census she married Joseph Holley in 1884 and had a son in 1885. Now here's where I try not to confuse you too much lol.....I can find their son on 1891 census living with his grandmother but can't find Elizabeth Kate Jane or Joseph!!!! I then find Elizabeth and son Dudley on the 1901 census where she is still down as married (I know that could be mis transcribed) but can't find Joseph!!!
When I ordered her death certificate I was hoping it might mention her husband Joseph on it but no although it does show she was a widow.
When she died in 1948 she was living at Viaduct Road and I wondered if she was living with anyone else or alone!!!!!
This part of the family are just hiding from me I think...lol
Thanx again Roy

Have noted that your Dudley was born Hastings 1885
Full name Dudley Joseph B Holley
Still Hastings 1901

Suggest the B stood for Benjamin

If so try the following as his father.
Joseph Benjamin Hooley a farrier of Bath on 1901 census.
Joseph Benjamin Hooley died age 49 in Bath in the December 1/4 of 1907.
