Hi To All Readers,
I am looking for a Alfred Mann Smith born in 1884 in Dunedin, New Zealand and any other Family, Perants if possable to this man,
He came to Australia from New Zealand unknown when he arrived,if any one can help with this too
Married here in Australia have all that Information,
Need help with Birth and Perants or if any Brother's and Sister's if any one can help please with this information.

Do you know when he died? Wouldnt an Australian death certificate have his parents names on it? You might need to get his death certificate.
Otherwise write to the BDM archives in NZ - someone will post an address I'm sure - to get a copy of his birth certificate or birth registration. That costs about NZ$20.
Oh yes and wouldnt his marriage certificate have shown his parents names? Do you have that certificate?

i had a look for your Alfred Mann Smith b 1884
i got the folio number, but forgot to check the book to see what place the births were.
you wouldnt believe how many Smiths there are, even back then.
1884
SMITH Alfred 3610
SMITH Alfred Brett 2053
SMITH Alfred henry 1439
1883
SMITH Alfred 1950
1885
no alfred Mann.
when i go in next i will see if 3610 is Dunedin area, then getting the birth cert if the only way to go, to get the parents etc.
Sorry i was not much help, but havent used these records for over 10 yrs, and need to get used to them again.

Hi there.
The records only have a surname , first name, and a folio number,for each year, then you look in a book for the area that the folio number was registered.
but it does give the Q, meaning , which Q of the year, dec Q,... and i was trying to help to many people and forget to get your Q. might help if you are sending for a cert... so i will go back in and have another look..
Doesnt give parents... so cant match up brothers and sisters.. and there is so many Smiths, just about impossible , unless you are lucky enough to find a bible in the family.. 
the next step i think is to get the birth cert. that will give parents, and hope you pick the right Alfred,,,,

gives
when and where born
father - name profession, age and birthplace
parents - when and where married
mother- name and maiden surname age and birthplace
informant - signature description, residence,
registrar - when registered, signature of registrar,
so if you can get the right alfred, it has lots of good info on it..

Strange, the death certificate may not have his parents, but the Marriage cert would for SURE.
Don't you believe the parents recorded ?

i added june Q to your alfreds.
you have given us a hard one thats for sure, as Mk2_ Zephyr said , if you have a marriage cert , is his parents on that???
Not really sure where else we can look, we have microfiche on " nz immigrants of scottish birth arriving before 1921." if we had the parents, and you think thought they came from scotland, we could look there.
I will keep the name with me, and each time i am looking for something, i will have a look for alfred
