Hi Chris, I'm relatively new to RootsChat and have found it very interesting and informative. Just resurrected my Genealogy research. I have drawn a blank on my research in Cheshire and need to view specific Parish Records to go further back. I'm looking for Beresford in Betchton & Church Lawton, Cheshire. Richard Beresford marriage to Elizabeth??. Their first child was b. before 1750 Betchton area. All BDM in both Parishes is my task, any help from yourself would be very much appreciated. I have Richard, Anne, James and William as offspring.
Best regards from Oz Nigel (Melbourne Australia)

Hi - I'm searching for information (Birth, marriage and death) possibly in Runcorn or Great Budworth parish of a Mary Dickens and Thomas Dutton ( really uncommon name.;..) Mary Dickens is quite easy as she survived into the 1890s, but I am unable to trace which Thomas Dutton she married, or where he came from. Mary came from Little Leigh and there is an IGI record that could be her, born around 1809. The marriage to Thomas probably took place around 1830 because on the 1841 census, Mary was a widow with two children - William aged 10 and Elizabeth aged about 6. (The children's names could also be clues to the parentage of Thomas Dutton) They were living in Runcorn and continued to do so for many years, which makes Runcorn the The most likely location for his death . However, I suspect they may have migrated there following a marriage in Great Budworth parish. I would be very grateful if someone could check the relevant records. Thanks a lot, Lala

Hi Jean,
Sorry, I have one more now!
Edward and Sarah Norbury in Cheshire somewhere! Probably Blakenhall, Wybunbury parish but I can't find it on the online site, and as I can't find a baptism for Sarah there, maybe they were married from wherever she was born?
Edward and Sarah's first child was 1796, so I'm assuming they were married about 1795?
Do estimated birth dates help in your search?
Thanks so much,
Barbara Bryan
Hello Barbara,
Sorry, there is no marriage of an Edward to Sarah on the indexes.

Hi Nigel,
Glad your are enjoying Rootschat!
I can't find a marriage for Richard on the indexes, but have you seen the earlier marriage at Davenham on the Cheshire CPRDB site:
Thomas BERISFORD, parish of Sandbach m Elisabeth STOCDALE, parish of Sandbach by licence 12 Mar 1733.

Hello Lala, and welcome to Rootschat.
I have checked the available indexes for you but can't see the marriage. I have checked DICKEN, DICKENS, DICKIN and DICKINS. However I have located the baptism you are looking for at: http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html?datestamp=1202934839187#p=0
If you search under Cheshire Baptisms and put in Mary DICKENS you can download an image of the parish register entry for Little Leigh. She was born 14th January 1809 and baptised 12th Feb 1809.
Hope that this helps you with your quest.

Hi Jean,
You very kindly found a couple of marriages for me for THOMAS DALE to ANN from the CONGLETON area.
I think I must have been in "rooky" mode. I hadnt realised that I had a birth that was in 1838 that could tell be ANNs surname!!! Well, I got the cert and dont know if it is any help to my original request but the name appears to be GALLIENNE. Not a name I have come across before. Also on the 1841 census they lived on spragg street, Astbury. On the IGI I found the possibLe christening for their first child, JOHN of 1826 in MARTON BY CONGLETON. Would any of this further my quest to find the marriage of THOMAS and ANN DALE. I cant believe I didnt check the obvious things first. I would be very grateful if you could check the indexes again for me and appologies for wasting your time last time!!!
Jacqui
Hi Jacqui,
I can't see anything obvious - I may have posted last time but there is this marriage:
Thomas DALE, Husbm, m Ann JOLLEY 22 Jun 1819 at Astbury. If the surname is difficult to decipher it might be worth posting part of the image in the common room to see if anyone can help.

Hi Jean
Thanks for taking the trouble to look again for me. The latter half of the name is difficult to decipher but the first part is definitely GALLI*. Thanks for the suggestion.
Jacqui
It could be GALLIMORE - I have come across the name in Cheshire but there was nothing close to this on the indexes. I still think it is a good idea to post a sample from the certificate.

Thanks so much for looking Jean - I wonder if this means they didn't get married, or if it just means that it wasn't recorded or lost or whatever? Ah, the mysteries!
Thanks again,
Barbara

Thank you very much for looking Jean. I'll see if I can find a marriage in Warrington, but I don't have much hope! Thank you for the info re the baptism of Mary Dickens, though.
