Hi Chris

I really would appreciate any help you can give me with my research. I'm looking for the marriage of GGG grandfather in Cheshire:-

William Francis CRANE (b. circa 1784) to Elizabeth ? (b. circa 1788). I'm surmising that the wedding may be been circa 1808-13 and possibly at Holy Trinity, Chester (all their children were baptised there from 1813 onwards.)

Yours hopefully

Hi Judith
Both Joseph and Catherine have birth records showing on the Cheshire BMD site from there you can get the application for birth certificates, these will give you the mothers details you are looking for.
       http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/
I have searched the marriage index and found a likely pairing of William Ankers and Mary Hopley (Malpas ) married
Hargrave St. Peters in 1835, of course this could would be proved by the birth certs.
The marriage index I have is not complete but without both names it is even more difficult.
Hope this helps

Hi June

The index that I have only contains marriages so don't think there is any way we can help at the moment.

Hi Dorothy,
I have searched the index and not found a William Crane with Elizabeth. Have tried all districts and variations of spellings without luck.
As the index is not complete it does not mean they didn't marry at Chester, but I think a visit to Cheshire record office at Chester may be called for, if you are in the area.

Hi Chris

Thanks for your quick reply,  I feel such an idiot and other words to that effect, just double checked the marriage certificate of Joseph and Catherine and their birth years would be 1835 and 1834 so the bith certificates in the Chesire BMD cannot be theirs, plus which Catherine was born in Parkgate.

I am actually visiting the Cheshire records office in a couple of weeks so hopefully I will be able to find out more information.  Thanks again Judith

 Cheesy

Hi Chris,

Are there any STRETCH's with a TARPORLEY connection on your CD.  Having problems with this line.

JOSEPH SAMUEL STRETCH born 1857 Grappenhall married ANN EDITH DAVENPORT b.1860 from TARPORLEY in 1879.
His address at the time of the marrriage just says CHESTER.

ANN EDITH STRETCH died in 1886 and JOSEPH married someone called MARY b.1860 also from TARPORLEY.
They had a son on the 1901 Census;JOSEPH b.1896

JOSEPH SAMUEL STRETCH was a 22 year old Widower when he re-married in 1879 - who was his first Wife???

Can you help?
Stretchie.

Hi
   Sorry can't help this time.
The parish marriage index that I have does not show any marriages after 1850.
The CheshireBMD does show 2 marriages prior to 1879 that might fit with your Joseph Stretch, one a Sarah Ellen Buckley 1873 and a Betsy R Stoddard 1785, but cannot find a death record that fits for these.
Sorry

Hi Angela (fifer)

The marriage index I have has records for St. Bridgets West Kirby from 1560-1837 and shows the following for the name Fishwick.
1) 3/6/1813 Ann to Joseph Jones
2) 3/6/1819 Ann to Joseph Jones (by licence )
Sorry I cant explain why there are two referenses unless the Bishops transcipts were wrongly written up.

Hi Judith
I will be doing some searching this week, could you tell me where your Joseph and Catherine married.
Could you let me have the details from the earliest census return you have for them.
Unless of course you have already cracked it.
