Goodness, why didn't they allow the Cheshire records to be on the IGI?

Another probably Cheshire marriage that's caused a stumbling block: Stredder m. Sparks.  I am looking for a marriage Birkenhead and Bebbington way between William (Smith) Stredder and Margaret Sparks probably in the later 1830s.  (They had a son George Alfred Stredder, and daughters Alice Ann Stredder and Amelia Stredder who were both born and married in the 1860s Birkenhead and Bebington areas.  Other children later born in Liverpool and Bolton.)

Other Stredder and Sparks references gratefully received,

With thanks

Fiona
Hi Fiona
I have checked my Cheshire index (Bertram Merrel)this shows no Stredder marriages at either Birkenhead St. Mary or Bebbington St Andrews up to 1837

Hi Catherine

Thank you for the pointers to the BMD sites.  I browse them thoroughly every time they are updated.  And I have gone back and forth at 1837online.

Although I have found some children to William Smith Stredder and Margaret Sparks in Birkenhead/Tranmere/Bebington/Liverpool, I have not found their own marriage nor the birth of George Alfred Stredder who appears to be their eldest son.  I have found the 1841 marriage of a George Smith Stredder in Manchester who may be a brother to William and the certificate is on order.  In the 1881 census, Margaret says she is from Slorton, Cheshire.

Hi! Fiona

Think one of the problems is that although the St. Catherines Index of birth marriages and deaths started in 1837 to the present day, it was not made complusory to register until 1875, where upon people were fined for not registering.
So we still have to rely on church records at times.

Good luck

Hi ,
I don't have the death cert as yet, decided to send for last will and testament instead before sending for death cert. Will just says Thomas Langford of Mollington, Shoemaker, he died 9th June 1847. In a search of the Cheshire BMD I think I found his death, Thomas Langford age 60 Sub District Chester Cathedral, Register's at Cheshire West   CAT/10/20.   Possible informant could have been his wife Ann, or either son Robert or John. I'm sorry I don't have more. In the 1851 census his wife/widow and son John were living at 5 Parkgate St "Everwood Cottage", and living next door, John's brother Robert and wife. Hope this is of some help.  Thank you.

If the Parish Records go back to 1650 would you please check for the name John Adsit? I think he may have lived at Disley. The name is not to be confused with Adshead, which I believe came later.
Thank you,
Sally

RE James Hatton and Sarah
Hi
my index shows no records for James and Sarah at all at St.Bridgets West Kirby.
there is also St. Andrews for which I have no index.
As for Joseph, yes the http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/ shows his death registered in the district of Woodchurch aged 45 in 1891
Don't hesitate to post if you require any more details

Hi Chris

Looking for the marriage of John Lidgett(Lydgett) to a Mary around 1810 in or around Hargrave,Huxley, or possibly as far as Nantwich.  Any chance?

Hi,
A search of the Bertram Merrell Index shows :
John Lidgett married Mary Billington on the 3/7/1809
( he a blacksmith )
A soundex search reveals several Lidgett's and variations of the name marrying in the same area at dates from 1696-1836. these are listed below.
regards

Hi Peter

Thanks for your prompt reply, no less than 6 Lidgett names recognised.  The John married 1809 is the son of Robert the Blacksmith died Bickley 1835.  What I need now is to know if he was the father of the John who married Elizabeth Leach 1836.  His parents also John and Mary.  These are my 2Gt Grandparents.  Any one help?

Hi
Sorry I do not know how you can proceed further without seeing the parish birth records, kept at Cheshire Records office, unfortunatly I do not have copies.
Maybe someone can suggest something else?
Good hunting
